eCourtDate supports passkeys, a faster and more secure way to log in that replaces both passwords and traditional multi-factor authentication (MFA), letting you sign in with just your device's built-in security.

Overview

  • What: Passkeys are a modern authentication method that uses your device's biometrics (fingerprint, face recognition) or device PIN to log you in without a password
  • Why: Passkeys are more secure than passwords because they cannot be phished, guessed, or reused across sites, and they eliminate the need for separate MFA steps
  • Who: Any eCourtDate user who wants a faster, more secure login experience
  • Expected outcomes: After setup, you can log in to eCourtDate with a single tap or glance, with no password or MFA code required

Q: What if I do not use biometrics on my device? A: You can use your device password or screen lock instead. Biometrics are not required to create or use a passkey.

Q: Can I remove or replace a passkey? A: Yes. Sign in using another method (email and password) and visit your account security settings to manage your saved passkeys.

Q: What if I lose my device? A: Log in using your email and password, then create a new passkey from the login screen. If you saved your passkey to a cloud account, it may also be available on your other synced devices.
