How to Edit Your User Profile

Update your name, title, phone, extension, preferred language, and photo on Your Profile, then set your theme in Preferences.

Your profile holds the name, title, phone number, language, and photo that eCourtDate shows for you, and the user dropdown is where you edit all of it.

Overview

Your Profile opens your own user record. From there you edit your Name, Title, Phone, Extension, Preferred Language, and Photo URL, jump to the clients and events assigned to you, and review the audit history on your record. Your email address is shown on the page but is not editable there. A separate Preferences window in the same dropdown controls how the app looks for you, including Color Theme and Accent Color.

Prerequisites

  • An active eCourtDate user account and a current session
  • Access to the user dropdown in the top right of the navigation bar
  • A super admin account if you want to change the Roles assigned to you, or to use the Top Navigation and Hide Events Calendar preferences

How-To Steps

Update Your Profile Information

  1. Click your name or photo in the top right of the navigation bar.
  2. Select Your Profile from the dropdown.

What to Expect

Saving the profile form shows a User updated message and writes your changes to your user record. Your name, phone, email, language, roles, and last active date appear to teammates who can open Admin > Users. In the Your Preferences window, the Color Theme and Accent Color save the moment you click one and the new look applies right away, and a successful save shows an Updated preferences message. The navigation bar keeps showing the name and photo it loaded when your session started, so reload the page after saving to see them change there.

Best Practices

  • Enter the name you want teammates to recognize in Name, because it is the heading on your profile and the name shown in the Users list.
  • Keep Phone and Extension current so colleagues reading the Users list can reach you.
  • Point Photo URL at an image that stays publicly reachable, since the profile header and navigation bar load it straight from that link.
  • Click Save before you leave the profile page. Theme and accent color save on click, but the profile fields only save when you click Save.
  • Check the Audit Logs card at the bottom of your profile when you need to confirm who last changed your record and when.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I change my email address on this page?

A: No. Your email appears under your name as read-only text, and the page drops the email field from the update before it saves, so editing it there has no effect.

Q: Can I change my own roles?

A: The Roles selector only appears if your account is a super admin. Otherwise your profile shows a count of the permissions your roles grant, followed by a read-only badge for each one.

Q: Why do I not see Top Navigation or Hide Events Calendar in Preferences?

A: Those two controls are hidden unless your account is a super admin. Every account sees Color Theme and Accent Color.

Q: What do Assigned Clients and Assigned Events open?

A: They open the clients list and the events list already filtered to your user record, so you see only the records assigned to you.

Q: Where can I see when my record last changed?

A: The Audit Logs card at the bottom of your profile lists Created By, Updated By, Created, Updated, and Region for your user record.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The navigation bar still shows your old name or photo.

Symptoms: Your profile page shows the value you just saved, but the top right of the navigation bar does not.

Solution: The navigation bar reads the account details loaded when your session started. Reload the page and the saved name and photo appear.

Issue: Your photo does not display.

Symptoms: The profile header and the navigation bar show a generic user icon after you save Photo URL.

Solution: The page loads the image directly from the address you entered. Open that address in a new browser tab to confirm it returns an image, correct it in Photo URL, then click Save.

Issue: Preferences will not save.

Symptoms: The Your Preferences window shows the message that your preferences could not be saved.

Solution: The save reached the server and failed, so your earlier settings still apply. Click Update Preferences again, and if the message repeats, reload the page and set the preference once more.
